ATS map is much better detailed imho, but smaller than ETS. There are many country/rough/hidden roads in ATS. Big part of ETS map is very old and like 70-80% of all map is just highways. The only plus I see in ETS - large amount of truck tuning parts.

The only euro trucks we've ever seen in the US is some Scania 2 and 3 series trucks when they tried to enter the US in the late 70's-late 80's (aside from a few much smaller manufacturers years prior of course), and they sold well, but the trucks didn't work well with weight limitations of the west coast and while they were selling pretty well and there was definitely some good brand

I currently have American Truck Simulator and am enjoying it. Unfortunately, the map is currently quite small. I'd like to purchase EuroTruck 2, but I have heard that while there is a larger map, the quality of it is significantly lower. They apparently have more repetition, so while the map is bigger, areas feel less unique.

Such an effort would probably be a bargain at ~€500. Fun fact: GTA San Andreas originally had a to scale map, but it was revised because it took testers hours to get anywhere. So the technology is older than ETS2 and as such it safe to assume that the scale is merely a design-decision. #5.
